Mini Pet-Polar Bear Question..
I'm just curious..how long has Nightfall been out now? Since October 2006...ok so thats approx 15-16 months of available time to farm for Armbrace Materials. I just read a post on Highend sales showing offers in upwards of 2500 armbraces for a mini-polarbear. SO first my question is how do u trade that many for a mini in one trade? Used to be the problem was the ectos, since armbraces, now u can offer more, but 10 stacks of armbraces? Am I the only one that smells duping here? Or maybe something fishey at all? 2500? Here's the link, I know I will probably get flamed for this, but I just gotta ask...am I the only one that thinks this is impossible? I'm not doubting that the people in this bidding war have worked hard in the game..but wow...2500 armbraces..That's just nuts to think u have that many armbraces or more sitting in your storage. I guess they need to be spent before GW2 comes out so might as well spend them..but can someone shed some light on how acquiring this many arms is actually possible? I would really be curious...if someone has actual hard facts that this is possible. Thanks, and again, I apologize to anyone this may offend, I'm just curious...That's an armbrace every 4-5 hour..is that a possibility farming 24/hours a day, 7/days a week? And yes, I'm aware that they may have been bought with just stacks and stacks upon stacks of ectos..but that would be 12,500 ectos to trade for them. That's literally 600Million for a mini pet..WTF are these guys thinking..again, my original question, if you didn't work for these arms, then I could understand spending that much on a pet. Any comments here, I see alot of views, and no posts...

And the reason i almost didnt post it, but you saw a view, was because when i see a big paragraph, it makes me want to not read lol.
then again, i could be wrong. I remember when I used to think necros, and mesmers were useless lol. *reminisces about the good ol noob days* Last edited by Commander Ryker; Feb 06, 2008 at 11:02 PM // 23:02.. |

Polar bear is that rare, worth the price I'd say. Some people do have that much money some legit, some don't. Don't lose any sleep over it. Well look like miss polar (witch) is doing well for herself these days.
Lol at the people that got banned. Ryker and Yang must had a fun time there. Oh yeah, big wall of texts = not good. |

It's rather easy to accumulate stacks of armbraces through high-end trading, especially when it comes to the high-end minis.
You have to remember that several of the rarest (and most desired) minis can demand almost whatever price the seller wants, so it's easy to make incredible amounts of wealth if you can buy one of those and resell it. |

There are only 2 possible ways without resorting to buying GW cash:
1. High-end buy/sell: Buying something dirt cheap that is actually XX+ ectos or becomes XX+ ectos, and then selling it. 2. Black money: Duping and all the bad stuff that goes under the radar. There is a secret trade network or a new glitch that GW devs probably aren't aware of. |

If the dupe hadnt occurred, there would probably be 2500 armbraces total in game between all players atm |

People bidding that much are:
1) fake bidding 2) dupers 3) alts of seller trying to up the bid (lol, not likely) There is no way I can forsee anyone having that many Armbraces legitimately. If they bought them, that is an extreme amount of money, that few could claim to have/get. If they earned them, that is an insane amount of DoA farming, meaning the person eats/sleeps/craps while playing the game. If someone wants to say I am wrong, there are people who have that many Armbraces from legitimate means, please post a screenshot of the Armbraces and detail how they were obtained. |

2500 armbrace cant be earned by anyway. Duping or fake bidding I would say. Thats 500m or 500.000k or 500.000.000gold. Thats not just insane, thats impossible. Gold sellers sell this much money for 50.000$ yes true 50.000$dollars.

It's possible to get 2500 braces without having to have duped. You just need to have a lot of items the dupers want.
An example: Guy who has a Kanaxi puts it up for sell, duper bids 1750 braces and wins. Duper has Kanaxi, the seller is now the owner of 7 stacks of armbraces, all of which were made from a legit trade. So, it's possible. Is it likely that all those bids are legit, and the braces not duped...? hell no

possible. at current prices an armbrace can be bought for ~45e. 45 x 2500=112500 ecto. GW was released on April 28, 2005. give a month to start farming ecto, so ~33(months)X4=132x7x24=22176 hours. at that rate its about 5 ecto per hour, which is doable(not very likely though) with a bot or multiple people playing the same account

trading is pointless, anet is powerless, and dupers live happily ever after, end of story.

Imo Anet should have isntantly erased all armbraces out of the game by a rollback, after the exploit was clear. Would have been the best solution to GW's economy, that wouldn't be so extreme broken, when Anet would have handled in this situation only correctly, what they absolutely didn't. |

Exactly, a trade where the seller obvioulsy knows that the armbraces are duped is not "in good faith" and that would be the case with a trade of 1750 armbraces. You cant not know that these came from a cheater, and therefore the seller would also be eligeble(sry if my english is bad) for a ban.
But its really 2bad that Anet cant do something about it, cuz if they could, no one would be able to bid that kind of money and In the time i have played GW i have made about 7.5 million which i spend om Fow and weapons etc. My point is that, although i have been farming a lot then there are lots of people who have more than me, and probably a few that have way more. So lets guess the there are a few players that have 40-50 millions made legit. I cant imagine much more than that, no matter how lucky u have been with drops and trades. And that only makes it a tenth of the way to the 500+millions you need for 2500 armbraces. It just seems odd that Anet cant do more about it, if they really log everything they should be able to detect when a dupe takes place? or is it just me? or at least detect ppl with stacks of armbraces, cuz "just" 250 is no where near normal! But i guess its harder than it seems, it also took a long time for them to do something about the botfarmers in granite citadel... Last edited by Chriss; Feb 07, 2008 at 03:15 AM // 03:15.. |

Though some of the armbraces in existence right now are questionable from dupes, many of the bidders probably legitimately got their money from power-trading. Even by simple studying of the market based on rare materials/dyes/mid range stuff, you can make 5-10% profit every week, and assuming you started out with 1 million gold (which isn't that hard for a farmer) 2 years ago, you'd have (at 7% a week) 1137 million by today. Which is more than enough to purchase the polar bear.

The braces are likely duped, but the people who are now in possession of them are likely not the ones who did the duping. This is exactly the reason that the economy was so devastatingly ruined by the duping fiasco; it was caught far too late to do anything about the many, many braces that had saturated the market... let alone the other valuable items which I'm quite sure were duped to the extreme, i.e. ecto, black dye, mini pets, etc.
